From humble beginnings: The St. Catharines legacy

The Glenridge Lawn Bowling Club, now located at 84 Glen Morris Dr. in St. Catharines, carries on a legacy that began with the St. Catharines Lawn Bowling Club. This predecessor club operated for decades near the old Welland Canal, with roots that may even trace back to the late 18th century. It laid the foundation for the vibrant community club we know today.

Establishing a home: The South Drive era

A significant chapter in our history began in 1917 when the club purchased land for a new clubhouse and green. This new home, located at the bottom of South Drive in the Glenridge neighbourhood, officially opened its doors on Victoria Day in 1919. This site served as a cherished gathering place for members until 1978, fostering a strong sense of community and sportsmanship.

A new chapter: The Glen Morris drive facility

The construction of Highway 406 necessitated a move from our beloved South Drive location at the close of the 1978 season. However, this challenge led to a new beginning. The current green on Glen Morris Drive was subsequently opened in 1981, marking the start of our modern era. Today, the Glenridge Lawn Bowling Club stands as a premier, fully accessible facility, offering community lawn bowling from May to October.

"The Glenridge Lawn Bowling Club is more than just a place to play; it's a community built on history and shared passion."
